Petitioner (Gurmeet Chand), while working as lecturer, filed a writ petition bearing CWP 6568 of 2015, challenging the seniority list in the cadre of lectures in the Education Department (Secondary Education), Punjab, and also promotion with effect from the date of his juniors were promoted, after placing him above the said juniors in the claimed revised seniority. The said writ petition was disposed of by this Court in terms of a common order passed in CWP No. 5059 of 2011, decided on 27.05.2015 (Annexure P-1), whereby a bunch of thirty-six (36) connected writ petitions were disposed of. In the said common order dated 27.05.2015 (P-1), in the light of the stand of the respondent-Department to itself review and revise the seniority, it was ordered that after a final decision was taken with regard to the seniority list, consequential promotions or reversions would be effected within the stated time.

No. 1071 of 2016 (O&M) -2- By filing the present contempt petition, and upon notice, respondents have promoted the petitioner with retrospective effect w.e.f. 15.02.2010 with all consequential benefits, but notional monetary benefits. The petitioner, in the meanwhile, stands superannuated on 30.04.2010.

After hearing counsel for the parties, this Court finds that the order in question dated 27.05.2015 (P-1) has been complied with, therefore, no further adjudication in the present contempt is warranted, and the same is liable to be dismissed.

Dismissed.

Rule is discharged.
