8. Officers of the University.
- The General Council shall consists of the following members, namely:-| 1 | The Chief Minister, Assam | : Chairman; |
| 2 | The Minister in charge of the HigherEducation,Assam | : Vice Chairman; |
| 3 | Chief Secretary, Assam | :Member; |
| 4 | Vice-Chancellors of the State Universities | : Members; |
| 5 | The Senior most Secretary of HigherEducationDepartment, Government ofAssam | : Member; |
| 6 | A nominee of the University GrantsCommissionnot below the rank ofJoint Secretary | :Ex-officioMember; |
| 7 | Six academicians of repute from differentAcademic disciplines of whom one shall be awoman, one belongingto the ScheduledTribes nominated by the Government | : Member; |
| 8 | Three Members from the Faculties of Universities/ Colleges to be nominated by the Government | : Member; |
| 9 | One representative from the Principals of theProvincialized Colleges to be nominated by theGovernment | : Member; |
