- This Act may be called the Court of Wards Act, 1879.Extent. - [It extends to the [States] [Substituted for the original paragraph by the Indian Independence (Adaptation of Bengal Punjab Acts) Order, 1948.] of West Bengal, Bihar and Assam and that part of the [State] [Substituted by the Adaptation of Laws Order.] of Orissa which on the 30th day of July, 1879, was subject to the Lieutenant-Governor of Bengal.][Repealed by Act 5 of 1897.]
