Bengal Presidency - Subsection

Section 62C(1) in The Calcutta Police Act, 1866

(1)For the purpose of preventing serious disorder or manifest and imminent danger to the persons assembled at any place of public amusement or at any assembly or meeting to which the public are invited or which is open to the public, the Police officer of highest rank superior to that of Head Constable, who is present may, subject to such rules, directions and orders as may have been lawfully made.give such reasonable directions as he may think necessary as to the mode of admission of the public to, and for securing the peaceful and orderly conduct of persons attending at, such place, assembly or meeting;and all persons shall be bound to such directions.
