Section 202(15)(c) in The Naval Ceremonial, Conditions Of Service And Miscellaneous Regulations, 1964

(c)If such an officer is convicted and receives a sentence of less than dismissal from the Naval Service, he may, at the discretion of the Chief of the Naval Staff be reappointed from the date he returns to duty provided he has not received the punishment of dismissal from the ship.
