Section 487 in The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Act, 1981
487. Payment of compensation for damage to municipal property.
- If, on account of any act or omission, any person has been convicted of an offence against the provisions of this Act or against any rule, by-law or regulation made under it and by reason of such act or omission, damage has been caused to any property owned or vested in the corporation, the said person shall pay compensation for such damage, notwithstanding an punishment to which he may have been sentenced for the said offence. In the event of dispute the amount of compensation payable by the said person shall be determined by the Magistrate before whom he was convicted of the said offence on application made to him for the purpose by Commissioner not later than three months from the date of conviction, and in, default of payment of the amount of compensation so determined, it shall be recovered under a warrant from the said Magistrate as if it were a fine inflicted by him on the person liable therefor.Legal Proceedings In General
