Section 18 in The West Bengal Non-Agricultural Tenancy Act, 1949
18. Rate of rent payable by an under-tenant. -
An under-tenant shall be liable to pay such rate of rent for the non-agricultural land comprised in his tenancy as has been agreed upon between himself and his landlord at the time of his admission to the occupation of such land :Provided that the rate of rent payable in respect of the non-agricultural land comprised in any tenancy by an under-tenant who has been admitted to occupation of such land after the commencement of this Act shall not, except in the case where such land is held on a fixed rent or free of rent by the tenant under whom such under-tenant holds, exceed one and a half times the rate of rent payable by such tenant in respect of such land.
