(The case has been taken up for hearing through video conferencing.) The petitioner has filed the present petition under Section 482 read with Section 439 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 for extension of interim regular bail granted to the petitioner vide order dated 23.12.2020 in case FIR No.228 dated 06.10.2015 registered under Sections 21 and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 at Police Station Jandiala Guru, District Amritsar.
Briefly stated, the petitioner has sought interim regular bail on the ground that due to change in weather the petitioner got severe fever and flu and was admitted in the hospital and was advised complete bed rest. Therefore, interim regular bail granted to the petitioner may be extended by a period of two weeks.

I have heard learned Counsel for the petitioner and learned State Counsel and gone through the relevant record.
Learned Counsel for the petitioner has submitted that due to change of weather the petitioner suffered from fever and flu and was hospitalized but he has been discharged yesterday night. Interim regular bail granted to the petitioner may be extended by a period of two weeks. The petitioner will not seek further extension of interim regular bail and will surrender on the due date.
On the other hand, learned State Counsel has submitted that no ground for extension of interim regular bail is made out. Therefore, the petition may be dismissed.
The claim of the petitioner as to his illness and hospitalization is supported by copies of OPD slip, admission slip and discharge slip filed through e-mail print out of which are taken on record. In view of the facts and circumstances of the case and copies of OPD slip, admission slip and discharge slip, I am inclined to extend the period of interim regular bail by a period of one week.
Accordingly, the petition is allowed and interim regular bail to the petitioner is extended for a period of one week on the bail bonds already furnished by him and the petitioner shall surrender before the concerned jail authorities on expiry of the period of interim regular bail.
