Section 7 in Tamil Nadu Home Guard Act, 1963

7. Powers, privileges and protection of Home Guard.

(1)A member of the Home Guard, when called out by an order under section 6, shall have the same powers, privileges and protection as an officer of the police appointed under the [Chennai] [Substituted for the word 'Madras' by the City of Madras (Alteration of Name) Act, 1996 (Tamil Nadu Act 28 of 1996).] City Police Act, 1888 [Tamil Nadu] [Substituted for the word 'Madras' by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws Order, 1969, as amended by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws (Second Amendment) Order, 1969.] Act III of 1888) or the [Tamil Nadu] [Substituted for the word 'Madras' by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws Order, 1969, as amended by the Tamil Nadu Adaptation of Laws (Second Amendment) Order, 1969.] District Police Act, 1859 (Central Act XXIV of 1859), as the case may be.
(2)No prosecution shall be instituted against a member of the Home Guard in respect of anything done or purporting to be done by him in the exercise of his powers, or the discharge of his duties, or the performance of his functions as such member except with the previous sanction of the Commissioner of Police in the City of [Chennai] [Substituted for the word 'Madras' by the City of Madras (Alteration of Name) Act, 1996 (Tamil Nadu Act 28 of 1996).] and of the Superintendent of Police in a district.
