1. Delay in filing the Review Petition is condoned.

2. The order dated 15.10.2024 passed in SLP (Crl.) No. 14915 of 2023 is recalled. Consequently, the Review Petition is allowed. The Special Leave Petition is restored to its original number and is taken on board.

3. Leave granted.

4. Having heard learned counsel for the appellant and the respondent and considering the ripe age of the appellant, being 75 years, we consider it appropriate to extend to him the same benefit as in the decision of this Court in Ahamed Masood Vs. State, represented by Inspector of Police, Criminal Appeal No. 3410 of 2025, in which case, under similar circumstances this Signature Not Verified Court has reduced the sentence to that of already Digitally signed by Jayant Kumar Arora Date: 2026.05.13 10:18:44 IST Reason: undergone. This will be subject to payment of additional fine and compensation.

5. In that view of the matter, while confirming the conviction, we reduce the sentence of the appellant to that he has already undergone, subject to depositing an additional amount of Rs. 5,00,000/- (Rupees Five Lakhs) in the Armed Forces Battle Casualties Welfare Fund (AFBCWF) within eight weeks from today.

6. With these observations, the criminal appeal stands disposed of.

7. Pending interlocutory application(s), if any, is/are disposed of.
