Section 12(4) in The Himachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 1994
(4)The State Government may, by general or special order, reserve such number of offices of Chairpersons for persons belonging to backward classes in municipalities not exceeding the proportion to the total number of offices to be filled by direct election in the municipalities as the urban population of the persons belonging to backward classes in the State bears to the total urban population of the State and may further reserve [One-half] [words substituted 2008] of the total seats reserved under this sub-section for women belonging to backward classes.
