Section 100(c) in Police Regulations, Calcutta, 1968
(c)If in the course of an interview a convict makes a statement which amounts to a confession, the officer to whom the statement is made shall at once inform the Deputy Commissioner, Detective Department, who after satisfying himself that the confession is genuine, shall arrange to have it recorded by a Magistrate.
