(2)Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1), if the State Government is of opinion that circumstances exist under which it is not possible to hold election in the area or in any part of the area of a Zilla Parishad or Mahakuma Parishad, it may on the expiry of the term of office of the members of the Zilla Parishad or Mahakuma Parishad, as the case may be, under sub-section (1) of section 141, by an order published in the Official Gazette, extend such term of office for such period, not exceeding six months at a time, as may be specified in the order :Provided that prior to the issue of any notification for such extension of the term of office beyond six months from the date of expiry of the term under sub-section (1) of section 141, such notification shall be laid before the State Legislature and shall be subject to such modification as the State Legislature may make.'.]]* * *]
