(2)To hold examination and to grant and confer degrees, diplomas, certificates and other academic distinction to and upon persons who-(a)have pursued an approved course of study in the University and have passed the examinations of the University, under conditions laid down in the Statutes, the Ordinances or the Regulations;(b)are teachers, librarians and laboratory assistants in educational institutions or any other person, under such conditions as may be prescribed in the Statutes, the Ordinances and the Regulations and have passed the examinations of the University under like conditions:(c)have carried on independent research under conditions laid down in the Statutes, the Ordinances or the Regulations;
