- Every person shall, before appointment as a member of the Home Guard, sign a pledge of service in Form 'B' before the Commissioner of Police in the City of [Chennai] [Substituted for the word 'Madras' by the City of Madras (Alteration of Name) Act, 1996 (Tamil Nadu Act 28 of 1996).] or the Superintendent of Police in a District or an officer authorized by them in this behalf for the purpose.
