An accused person should not be examined immediately he is produced for the recording of his confession. He should be given a reasonable time, extending when possible to a few hours, for reflection in circumstances in which he will not be influenced by the police before his statement is recorded. If during this period he is detained in jail, the superintendent of the jail should be requested to keep him apart from other persons but not in solitary confinement.
