Section 713(b) in Police Regulations, Bengal , 1943
(b)The Superintendent shall use his discretion as to whether these escorts shall be armed with lathis or muskets, and their strength shall ordinarily be fixed according to the scale given below-(i)By land. - One man for every two carts.(ii)By water - One man for every boat.
