(1)Any person failing to furnish the statement under section 5 or to comply with the order made or direction given under section 5 or section 6 [or filing false affidavit under section 5 or section 6] [Inserted by section 5 of the Tamil Nadu Debt Relief (Amendment) Act, 1980 ( Tamil Nadu Act 5 of 1980), which was deemed to have come into force on the 13th December 1979] or otherwise, contravening the provisions of either of the said sections shall be liable to imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than three months but which may extend to one year and with fine which shall not be less than one thousand rupees but which may extend to five thousand rupees.
