Death, retirement or absence of presiding officer .-In the case of the death, retirement on challenge or unavoidable absence of the presiding officer, the next senior officer shall take the place of the presiding officer and the trial shall proceed if the Court is still composed of not less than the minimum number of officers of which it is required by law to consist.
