1. In this Public Interest Litigation, the Petitioner has prayed for the following reliefs :-
"(A) Be pleased to direct the Respondents herein to place on record the efforts made by the present Respondents with reference to the implementation of the Noise Pollution Rules, 2000, within such period as this Hon'ble High Court may deem fit and proper.
(B) Be pleased to direct the Respondents to disclose on oath as to what steps they are going to take for implementation of the Noise Pollution Rules, 2000, within such period as this Hon'ble High Court may deem fit and proper.
(C) Be pleased to issue a writ of mandamus directing the Respondents to produce entire record with reference to the Noise Pollution in respect of the entire State of Maharashtra, within such period as this Hon'ble High Court may deem fit and proper.1/3 ::: Uploaded on - 30/07/2025 ::: Downloaded on - 31/07/2025 21:30:54 :::
JPP 14. PIL 1.2009.doc (D) Be pleased to issue writ of mandamus directing the Respondents to take all possible necessary steps for effective and prompt implementation of the provisions of the Noise Pollution Rules, 2000.
(E) Be pleased to issue writ of mandamus directing the Respondents to take all possible necessary steps for immediately stopping nuisance of the noise and sound pollution arisen due to the use of the loud speakers and music in and around the Marriage halls, Halls and Lawns during the period of functions, marriage processions and other processions in the residential zones.
(F) Be pleased to issue writ of mandamus directing the Respondents to take all possible necessary steps for immediately stopping nuisance of the noise and sound pollution arisen due to the loud speakers used in the political and other processions in the residential zones.
(G) Be pleased to issue writ of mandamus directing the Respondents to take all possible necessary steps for immediately stopping the use of the constructed premises and open spaces/plots in the residential zones for industrial purposes and thereby stop causing nuisance of sound pollution to the residents in the residential zones.
(H) Be pleased to direct the Respondents to fix the responsibility for implementation of the rules on a responsible officer of the Respondents and further be pleased to provide scheme for effective implementation of the Noise Pollution Rules of 2000."
2. Issue raised in the PIL is no longer res integra as the same has been comprehensively dealt with by a Division Bench of this Court vide judgment and order dated 10 November 2012 and 16 August 2016 passed in Public Interest Litigation No. 173 of 2010. In compliance of the directions issued by the Division Bench of this Court, the State Government has appointed a Nodal Officer to look into the complaints relating to noise pollution.

3. In case the grievance of the Petitioner survives for consideration, he is granted the liberty to approach the Nodal Officer.
4. With the aforesaid liberty, the Public Interest Litigation is disposed of.
