Section 554(a) in Police Regulations, Bengal , 1943
(a)The Railway Police shall be responsible for the burial or cremation in a proper and decent manner, in accordance with the nationality and religion of the deceased of the bodies of all persons dying within railway limits not claimed by friends. The property of such persons shall be forwarded, under the general rules on this subject, to the Judge, and the cost of the disposal of the body shall be paid by the Magistrate of the district.
