Section 5(2)(a) in Andhra Pradesh Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1963

(a)Any officer of the Transport Department not below such rank as may be notified or any police officer in uniform not below the rank of a Sub-Inspector, or such other officer as may be prescribed, may require the driver of any motor vehicle in any public place to stop that motor vehicle and cause it to remain stationary so long as may reasonably be necessary for the purpose of satisfying himself that a licence has been duly obtained in respect of such motor vehicle.
