Section 62(1) in The Calcutta Improvement Act, 1911
(1)The Board may -(a)turn, divert, discontinue the public use of, or permanently close, any public street vested in them or any part thereof, or(b)discontinue the public use of, or permanently close, any public square vested in them, or any part thereof.
