Section 5 in The Bengal Corruption And Extortion Regulation, 1827

5. Record of criminal conviction sufficient for compelling refund of property corruptly taken or extorted. -

From and after the date of this Regulation, it shall not be necessary for any party from whom money or property may have been corruptly taken or extorted to institute a civil action for the recovery thereof; but, on proof of the charge in a criminal prosecution for those offences, a certified copy of the conviction by [the Court] [Words substituted Act 1 of 1903.] shall be received as sufficient authority for enforcing the refund of the amount or value so taken, with interest, on application to that effect being preferred by the aggrieved party to the Civil Court,[* * * *] [Words omitted by Act 12 of 1876.].
