(1)The Board shall not be liable for any act or default of any officer or servant appointed under this Act or under the Indian Ports Acts, 1908 (15 of 1908) if the Board be appointed by Government under the said Act to be the Conservator of the port, or of any person acting under the authority or direction of any such officer unless such act or default is done or made under the direction of the Board, nor for any damage sustained by any vessel in consequence of any defect in any of the moorings, hawsers or other things belonging to the Board.
