(1)No Forest Officer shall, as principal or agent or in any other capacity, trade in timber or other forest produce, or be or become interested in any lease or mortgage of any forest, or in any contract for working any forest whether within or outside the [State of Karnataka] [Adapted by the Karnataka Adaptations of Laws Order, 1973 w.e.f. 1.11.1973.].(2)Whoever contravenes the provisions of sub-section (1) shall on conviction be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine or with both.
