Section 71(1)(a) in The Port Of New Mangalore Rules, 1976

(a)Manner of marking of heavy packages. - (i) The gross weight on a heavy package shall be marked thereon in English and the regional language, if possible, with a kind of paint which is not easily effaceable.
(ii)Where a heavy package is of a light colour, black paint, and where the package is of a dark colour, white or yellow paint shall be used for such markings.
