Section 14(a) in Police Regulations, Bengal , 1943
(a)The Deputy Inspector-General of a Range shall keep in close touch with Commissioners and District Magistrates in regard to the maintenance of peace and the prevention and detection of crime in their respective charges, and shall do all in his power to establish harmonious co-operation between the police and the magistracy.
