Section 354O(1) in The Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888
(1)When a representation is made by [the [State] [The words 'the Provincial Government' were substituted for the word 'Government' by the Adaptation of Indian Laws Order in Council.] Government] to the corporation that within any part of [Brihan Mumbai] [These words were substituted for the words 'Greater Bombay' by Maharashtra 25 of 1996, (w.e.f. 4.9.1996).], accommodation is required for housing any part of the Police of [Brihan Mumbai] [These words were substituted for the words 'Greater Bombay' by Maharashtra 25 of 1996, (w.e.f. 4.9.1996).], the corporation shall take such representation into their consideration, and, if satisfied of the sufficiency of their resources and that it is otherwise expedient, shall pass a resolution to the effect that a scheme for providing such accommodation ought to be made, and shall direct the Commissioner to forthwith proceed to make a police accommodation scheme.
