Section 4 in Rules for the Biju Pattnaik Award for outstanding performance in promotion of Sports and Games
4. Objectives of the Awards.
- (i) To encourage development of sports and games in the State.(ii)To honour the sports persons to enhance their general status in society and also to give them grater dignity and a place of honour in Society.(iii)To inspire and motivate the budding talents to excel in promotion of sports and games.(iv)To provide encouragement to the Coaches who play the most important role in moulding and building the career of a sports person in his/her pursuit for excellence, in the field of sports and games.(v)To provide encouragement to one of the most active and creative faculty of human endeavour, i.e., 'Sports Journalism'.
