Mr. Uday Sankar Chattopadhyay Ms. Trisha Rakshit Ms. Bidisha Chakraborty ... ... for the petitioners Ms. Sabnam De Bardhan Ms. Kakali Naskar ... ... for the State Learned counsel appearing for the petitioners submits that the petitioners organized Baroyari Durga Puja since 2022 under the banner of Paschim Anandapally Jorabill Young Star Club which is a registered society under West Bengal Societies Registration Act and they have applied for registering their society's name in the Aasaan Portal of Kolkata Police vide their application dated 22.08.2024 like previous two years, but no steps have been taken by the authorities till date.
Learned counsel appearing for the State files a report.
Let the report be kept with the records. Report categorically states "In this pretext, this is to mention that police station does not have any authority to incorporate or register any new name in the Aasaan Portal of Kolkata Police. However, the petition dated 22.08.2024 submitted by the petitioner Nos.2 and 3 on behalf of 2 petitioner No.1 at Regent Park Police Station has already been enquired and report forwarded to the Joint Commissioner of Police (HQ) for necessary approval through proper channel. The petitioners also submitted petition before the Joint Commissioner of Police (HQ) for enlisting the name of the petitioner No.1 i.e. Paschim Anandapally Jorabill Young Star Club in Aasaan Portal.
In this context, this is to submit that there is no objection on police point of view on the part of Regent Park Police Station regarding enlistment of the name of Paschim Anandapally Jorabill Young Star Club, a registered society at their scheduled venue subject to the permission of other concerned authorities.
Heard learned counsels for the parties at length. As the Officer-in-Charge, Regent Park Police Station does not have any objection regarding enlistment of the name of Paschim Anandapally Jorabill Young Star Club in Aasaan Portal of Kolkata Police, the writ petition is disposed of with the direction to the Regent Park Police Station to maintain peace and tranquility during the dates when the committee celebrates its Durga Puja festival at the scheduled venue.
With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition being WPA 22421 of 2024 is disposed of.
There shall be no order as to costs. All parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court. 3 (Rajarshi Bharadwaj, J.)
