Section 12(8) in British Nationality Act, 1948

(8)A male person who becomes a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies by virtue only of sub-section (2), (4) or (6) of this section shall be deemed for the purpose of the proviso to sub-section (1) of section 5 of this Act to be a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies by descent only.
