- In places outside the limits of the town of Calcutta it is the duty of the police, acting under the orders of the District Magistrate, to ascertain whether printing presses are registered, and to insist upon a due observance of the provisions of the law (vide sections 4 and 5, Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867).
