Section 21(1) in First Statutes of the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad
(1)The Dean for each Institute campus under section 19 of the Act shall be nominated by the Director from amongst the Faculty members of the Institute not below the rank of Senior Designer, on a rotation basis, for a term of up to three years from the date of his nomination, subject to periodical review by the Senate:Provided that in case of any administrative or academic emergencies, the Director may nominate, before the expiry of the term, another incumbent as Dean of the Campus, at the end of the academic year.
