68. Calcutta Corporation may be required to light, cleanse and water roads.-
The Commissioners may, without parting with the control of any road or thoroughfare which is open to the public or of the road of any dock, wharf or jetty, call upon the Corporation of Calcutta, to light, cleanse, and, if necessary, water such road; and thenceforward the Corporation of Calcutta shall light, cleanse, and, if necessary, water such road:Provided that such road shall remain vested in the Commissioners, and shall not be stopped or discontinued, or temporarily closed, except by the Commissioners or with their consent.
