(1)Any officer or authority of the University of Calicut exercising any power or performing any duty under the Calicut University Act, 1968, immediately before the commencement of this Act, shall, for a period of nine months from such commencement or until the corresponding officer or authority is appointed, elected, nominated or constituted, as the case may be, in accordance with the provisions of this Act or the statutes or Ordinances made thereunder, whichever is later, continue to exercise such power or perform such duty as the case may be, so far as such power or duty is not inconsistent with the provisions of this Act:Provided that the Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice-Chancellor appointed under the Calicut University act, 1968 and holding office immediately before the Commencement of this Act shall be entitled to hold office for the full term of his appointment as if this Act had not been passed.
