Section 30(1) in The Merchant Shipping (Cargo Ship Construction And Survey) Rules, 1974
(1)In every ship means shall be provided for stopping ventilating fans fitted in the machinery, accommodation and cargo spaces. For machinery and cargo spaces, means shall be provided for closing all skylights, doorways, ventilators, annular spaces around funnels and other openings to such spaces. Such means shall be capable of being operated from positions outside the said space which would not become inaccessible by a fire within such spaces.
