Section 263 in Gauhati Municipal Corporation Act, 1971
263. Troughs and pipes for rainwater.
(1)The Commissioner may, by notice require the owner of any building or land in any street to put up and keep in good condition proper troughs and pipes for receiving and carrying water and sullage from the land or building and for discharging the same so as not to inconvenience persons passing along the street.(2)For the purpose of efficiently draining any building or land the Commissioner may be notice in writing -(a)Require any courtyard, alley or passage between two or more buildings to be paved by the owner or part owner of such buildings with such materials and in such manner as may be approved by the Commissioner; and(b)Require such paving to be kept in proper repair.
