402. Formal reception of troops on special occasions.
- When a regiment is on the march through routes infrequently used, or when the special object of the march is to impress the people with the strength and importance of the Military arm of Government, the following arrangements should be made to receive the regiment with due honour-(1)Unless prevented by a urgent business in another part of the district, the District Officer should make a point of being present at his headquarters to receive the regiment.(2)The higher officer of the several departments serving in the district, or present on tour in it, should be informed of the coming of the regiment so that they may have an opportunity of participating in its reception.(3)The Chairman and Commissioners of the local municipality should be invited to meet the regiment at the entrance of the town.(4)The educational authorities should be informed that it is desirable that the children in school on the line of march should be afforded an opportunity of seeing the troops march by.Supply of Carriage
