(1)to encourage and provide for instruction, teaching, training and research in such branches of learning and courses of study as it may think fit, and generally to promote the advancement and dissemination of knowledge and learning, and the extension of higher education with special emphasis on providing high quality education in Humanities, Social and Basic Sciences both at the undergraduate and Postgraduate levels to the students from all strata of the society including the disadvantaged ones;
