The Grama Rakshi shall be present in his Beat and shall also patrol his Beat during night. Ordinarily, he shall not be taken or sent away from his Beat except during emergencies and other situation as may be decided by the [Sub-divisional Police-officer] [Substituted vide Orissa Gazette Part III-A/26.10.1984.] Superintendent of police or when he is required to guard or escort prisoners. Care should however be taken that Grama Rakshis are-not unnecessarily detained but released immediately after the emergency is over.
