(1)At the time of presenting an election petition, the petitioner shall deposit in the court a sum of five hundred rupees as security or enclose with the petition a Government treasury receipt showing that the deposit of the said amount has been made by him in a Government treasury in favour of the Musiff or the District Judge, as the case may be, as security for the costs of the petition.
