When any warrant shall be directed or delivered to any officer of the Police-force, unless the authority issuing it shall order that it be executed without delay, such Police-officer shall deliver the same to the superior in charge of the division to which he belongs, who shall appoint, by endorsement thereon, one or more Police-officers to execute the same; and every Police-officer whose name shall be so endorsed thereon shall have the same powers, privileges and protection, as if the same had been originally directed to him by name.
