57A. [ Approval of State Government in respect of work etc. estimated to cost more than rupees ten lakhs. - [Section 57A inserted by W.B. Act 31 of 1997.]
No expenditure for any work or for purchase of any material as may be necessary for the purposes of this Act shall be made without the approval of the Corporation at a meeting, if the estimated cost of such work or purchase exceeds rupees five thousand but does not exceed rupees ten lakhs]:Provided that whether estimated cost of such work or purchase exceeds rupees ten lakhs, approval of the State Government shall be obtained.
