   FACTS

Heard today dated 2.3.2012. Appellant not present. The Department is represented by Shri H. R. Biswas, Meteorologist, Grade-I.

2. It is noticed that vide RTI application dated 21st March, 2011, the appellant had sought full weather report covering parameters such as Wind Speed, Wind Direction, Rainfall, Grade of Sea Roughness, Speed & Height of Sea Waves etc for the period 16th to 17th March, 2011, pertaining to Diglinpur (A&N Islands). Shri Biswas submits that the Department does not have a Centre at Diglipur and, in fact, has a Centre at Maya Bunder which is located at some distance from the first named place. He also submits that the Department is prepared to supply information regarding Maya Bunder Centre if the appellant deposits fee of Rs. 908/-.

3. Shri Biswas has travelled all the way from Kolkata to Delhi at a considerable cost to the govt. The appellant herein belongs to a remote area of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Hence, we waive off of the fee and direct Shri Biswas to provide requisite information to the appellant regarding Maya Bunder Station if the appellant is interested in this information.

4. This order may be complied with in 05 weeks time.
