In the event of the refusal of food by a prisoner the Medical Officer must adopt methods of artificial feeding if, in his judgment, the physical condition is such that artificial feeding provides the only method of keeping the prisoner alive. The actual operation of artificial feeding must be carried out by the Medical Officer or his Medical Subordinate.
