Section 45(1) in Tamil Nadu Hackney Carriage Act, 1911
(1)The owner or driver of every hackney carriage wherein any property is left by any person shall, within eighteen hours, carry such property to the nearest police-station and deposit it with the inspector or other officer on duty, and shall be entitled to a receipt duly signed by the officer taking charge of the same.
