- (i) All under-trial prisoners shall be classified into two classes- 'Class I' and 'Class II'.(ii)The Superintendent shall ordinarily place all under-trial prisoners in Class II:Provided that, where any trial Court recommends that any under-trial prisoner may be placed in Class I having regard to his social status and education and the habit of life to which he is accustomed, the Superintendent shall place such under-trial prisoner provisionally in Class I and immediately thereafter forward the recommendation to the District Magistrate concerned for approval.
