Section 56 in Bombay Industrial Relations Act, 1946

56. Conciliation proceeding. - (1) The Conciliator shall hold the conciliation proceeding in the prescribed manner.

(2)It shall be the duty of the Conciliator to endeavour to bring about the settlement of the industrial dispute and for this purpose the Conciliator shall enquire into the dispute and all matters affecting the merits thereof and may do all such things as he thinks fit for the purpose of including the parties to come to a fair and amicable settlement of the dispute and may adjourn the conciliation proceeding for any period sufficient in his opinion to allow the parties to arrive at a settlement or for any other reason.
