(1)Notwithstanding anything contained in the Madurai-Kamaraj University Act, 1965 (Tamil Nadu Act 33 of 1965) relating to the establishment of the Madurai-Kamaraj University or the Statutes, ordinances, regulations and orders made thereunder, on and from the date of publication of this Act in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, Dr. Alagappa Chettiar Teachers Training College, Karaikudi, the Alagappa College of Physical Education, Karaikudi and the institutions specified in the Schedule shall be disaffiliated from the Madurai-Kamaraj University to which they were affiliated on the date immediately preceding such date. The institutions specified in the Schedule shall form constituent colleges of the University and the provisions of this Act shall apply accordingly.Explanation. - For removal of doubts, it is hereby declared that the Alagappa College, Karaikudi (excluding the institutions specified in the Schedule) and the Government Engineering College, Karaikudi shall continue to be affiliated to the Madurai-Kamaraj University.
